pLinda Liu Michael Leung, two designers based in Hong Kong, have just started a href=”http://www.24hourmarket.org/home.html”24 Hour Market/a, a network of local markets from around the world. Through this portal, people can purchase regional and cultural objects directly from independent market vendors. /p

pAs a huge fans of night/street markets, we love the concept, even in its infancy. Currently, only a few stalls from Hong Kong’s Ladies’ Market are shown, selling shoes, combs, games and lighters. Locations in Stockholm, Shanghai and London are marked as coming soon. /p

pThe interface, sadly, needs workmdash;it’s clear that the designers are trying to mix a purchasing platform with a visual narrative, but it’s not quite there yet. Maybe they should team up with text-to-buy experts a href=”http://www.subports.com/”Subports/a? In any case, the project is worth the experimentation and will certainly improve with time./p
