HI Hangers est le fruit d’une collaboration entre le studio italien Mathery dont nous avons parlé précédemment et le designer australien Dale Hardiman. Ce portant est façonné à partir de tiges métalliques pliées formant une ligne ondulante. L’objet dépasse ainsi sa fonction utilitaire et se débarrasse de son côté encombrant pour devenir un objet de décoration et d’ornement.
Dezeen Promotion: Spanish furniture and upholstery brand Sancal has launched a furniture collection that includes a suspended acoustic shade designed for meeting rooms.
Created for Sancal’s new Gráfica collection by Nadadora Design Studio, the Tartana dome takes its name from the Spanish word for a two-wheeled sheltered horse carriage.

Built using an ash frame and foam-laminated fabric, it can be hung over meeting room tables in the workplace for increased privacy. Tartana is available in three colour combinations: grey/navy blue, moka/wine and beige/lime.
Silla40 chairs
Nadadora also produced the Silla40 chair, which has an upholstered seat, ash feet and is available with four different backrests that were designed to celebrate Sancal’s 40-year history.
The 1920s backrest references Marcel Breuer’s Cesca chair, while the 1930s back is influenced by Scandinavian design. The 1940s edition reflects the legacy of Charles Eames’ LCW chairs and the 1970s backrest is inspired by Ettore Sottssas’ Synthesis 45.
REW
Rafa García created the Nap sofa-bed as well as REW – a versatile sofa and bench system designed for resting, eating or working. It is available with steel lacquered black feet, or ash feet that can be stained in various colours.
Barnaby sofa
The Barnaby sofa and armchair by Perrine Vigneron and Gilles Belley feature loose covers, which can be easily swapped with different styles.
Collar chair
Skrivo design studio’s contribution to the Gráfica collection is the Collar chair, which is based on the idea of a folded shirt collar.
Each chair has an injection-moulded interior, tailored upholstery and is available with ash feet, in any colour from Sancal’s collection, or black, grey and brown metal.
Bang! cushions
Elena Castaño-López‘s Bang! bi-colour cushions feature contrasting trimmings and come in nine different tones: cream-apple, yolk-klein, snow-grass, lemon-earth, khaki-purple, toffee-turquoise, sky blue, coral and pearl.
Perigallo by Sancal
Sancal’s in-house team of designers created the Perigallo stool, which takes its name from a three-legged ladder used to harvest Spanish fruit.
Pion table
Sancal has also introduced a new colour of the Pion, a table designed by Ionna Vautrin, and has released a new version of the Nido armchair by Rafa García with metal feet.
Nudo
The Nudo table range now comes with a matching bench by Juan Ibáñez Lax and José Manuel Ferrero has created a Tea bar stool and Casta dining chairs.

Gráfica Collection
Five years ago Sancal decided to present each new collection with a title reflecting its inspiration at the time. The Gráfica Collection conveys Sancal’s passion for illustration and its respect for the discipline of graphic design.
Sancal’s enthusiasm for art is well established, and was recently reaffirmed when it contracted the services of mural artists Ricardo Cavolo, Agostino Iaruci and Zosen to commemorate the brand’s 40th anniversary.
Nap sofa
Although they were designed independently, the new products are versatile and work well together. However, what really brings them all together as “Gráfica” is the environment in which they are presented.
The artists Juan Ibáñez and Elena Castaño have brought together geometric forms and textures in their creations. They have drawn from Sancal’s industrial surroundings: grey cement provides a canvas for an array of colourful forms.
Places
The first chapter of the catalog is called Places because public spaces and personal spaces are transformed into special places. Within these pages you will find six inspirational environments using products from the new collection.
1 – Meeting Room
Successful meetings require concentration and creativity. Blue tones are stimulating and empowering. An acoustic hood reduces distracting echoes, as do the Barnaby armchairs in the breakout area. An eclectic mix of chairs around the oval table gives everyone courage and opportunity to join in.
2 – Restaurant
When we go out to eat we like to experience new things without sacrificing our creature comforts. As soon as we walk through the door we are presented with seating à la carte. The meal will be set off against a spectacular Pion table and the REW bench will provide us with the privacy we yearn for during a romantic dinner; the feeling that we may talk confidently during, say, a working lunch. The Collar chair is perfect for long postprandial conversations spawned by the Silla40 chairs’ celebration of the history of design reflected in the various back shapes.
3 – Head Office
One of the best way to manage a company is from an open, receptive office where different matters require varying levels of privacy or swift interaction. A solid wooden table crowned with a Tartana hood is the perfect tandem to impress a visitor and reduce echo, but most private conversations are reserved for the REW sofas.
4 – Home
My home is my kingdom – and that of my friends. This living room allows for a wide array of scenarios: relax on a Casta armchair, play a game of cards on a Pion, have a heated debate on the sofa or make a quick web search perched on a Perigallo stool.
5 – Tapas Bar
For the uninitiated, Tapas are delicious bite-sized Spanish delicacies. Yet quick snacks should not be synonymous with a lack of taste or comfort. A comfortable bar and a set of light chairs and tables show how it should be done. And, as the evening draws on, there’s nothing better than the reserved area.
6 – Hotel Room
Travel should be a pleasure. Our destination is a hotel room that is designed to satisfy our every whim. Fresh colours flow throughout the attractive, multifunctional room.
