The designers selected materials to reference Mediterranean beach resorts, using granite and reclaimed Aspendos stone for the flooring and counter tops.

Post-Office was founded in 2009 by Canadian designer Philippe Malouin. They created Dezeen’s offices in north London earlier this year – take a look here.

Dezeen also filmed interviews with Malouin in Milan and Cologne earlier this year.

Here are some more details from Post-Office:

Inspired by Julius Shulman’s Los Angeles photography and Ken Adams’ production design as well as Cesar Manrique’s breathtaking resorts in Lanzarote, the aesthetic is masculine, refined and minimal.

Materials include lavastone tiles, mimicking the black sands of Manrique’s timeless resorts, white cement boards in order to provide a subdued texture, whilst being the perfect backdrop for Orlebar Brown’s colourful palette.

The display units are made of bronze plated industrial scaffolding poles and keyclamps, reflecting the both the brand’s strength (industrial keyclamp) and its luxury (bronze plating).

The surfaces (reception desk and display unit) are clad in vintage Aspendos stone (reminding one of a resort’s ocean-eroded stone cliffs).

Video Style Steal Throwback – Aerosmith ‘Crazy’

imageIt’s a 90’s throwback! It’s the days of flannel shirts, jean cutoffs and cropped tops. Babydoll dresses, middle parts and a time when Alicia Silverstone ruled the teen scene.

And while taking a trip down music memory lane (VH1, anyone?), we couldn’t help but remember how obsessed with this Aerosmith’s ‘Crazy’ we were, and more importantly, how sweetly rebellious and gorgeous Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler both looked.

Many signature 90’s styles are making a comeback, some literal and some with just a slight change to make it more modern. Wax nostalgic and watch Aerosmith’s ‘Crazy’, then click on the slideshow to see how to rock the 90’s bag-girl-next-door look yourself!

SoulBot

Clint Eastwood Named Honorary Chairman of National Law Enforcement Officers Museum

We desperately wanted to begin this post with something like, “You’ve gotta ask yourself: do I feel lucky? Well, do you, museum?” but that would be tacky and we respect you too much. Instead, we’ll just tell you that the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum in Washington, DC has signed on Clint Eastwood as its Honorary Chairman. The under-construction museum, which just broke ground this past fall across the street from the National Memorial, joined up with the museum largely in what sounds like a fundraising and awareness effort as they try and reach their $80 million goal to complete the Davis Buckley Architects and Planners-designed museum (thus far, they’ve received $43 million). Said Eastwood about becoming its honorary chairman, “The National Memorial and Museum are long overdue and richly deserved tributes to the men and women in law enforcement.” Below you’ll find a 2006 rendering of the building, which is expected to be completed and open for business some time by the end of 2013.

Sponsor Spotlight : Moop’s new waxed canvas bags

Moop

The lovely Wendy from Moop told me about her recent collaboration with photographer Jamie Beck to showcase the wonderful Moop bags in a different setting… I have been a long-time fan of the handmade Moop bags but seeing these images makes me want o have one even more… cool, understated, simple and very stylish!

The new collection waxed canvas bags are built from durable and luxurious waxed canvas and lined in water resistant cordura. Waxed canvas is naturally water repellent and ages like leather… meaning will look even nicer after wearing 🙂

And Back to School is the phrase I keep hearing around me… so if looking for a new bag for your kids don't foget these cool Messenger ones from Moop!

Gwen Stefani Latest to Join Target’s Design Roster

Continuing their now years-long tradition of partnering with famous designers for limited-edition runs, which culminated in the big five year anniversary blow out earlier this year, Target has announced that they’ve signed on signer-turned-fashionista Gwen Stefani to design a clothing line for children. According to the story broken by Women’s Wear Daily, the line will be called “Harajuku Mini,” and will feature both clothing and accessories that run from between $3.99 and $29.99. The first run of the line is expected to launch sometime toward the end of this year, with more coming at the start of 2012. Here’s a bit:

“Harajuku Mini is a dream come true,” Gwen tells WWD of the upcoming line. “I’ve always wanted to do a cool children’s fashion line inspired by the supercute and playful kid’s clothing you find in Japan. Target has given me the creative freedom to design kid’s clothing that is different than most anything you usually see out there with great quality, attention to detail and most of all, available at amazing prices.

Home again / Renegade LA

We’ve landed in Calgary. It is quite a relief to be in the comforts of home! And internet access!!! I’ve got dozens of photos and links to post about people and things from Renegade LA, but the internet connection in our LA hotel was so bad it would have been less frustrating not to have any internet at all.

Here is Victoria of Paper & Type. We included her in a previous issue’s subscriber profiles. Check out her lovely papergoods (very appealing photos on her new website and great attention to detail!)
