Highlights from the 75-year-old cult Japanese brand’s latest collection include the Worker series, which integrates Zimbabwean cotton with Californian sun-form cotton for an “antique brown duck” fabric and the vinyl Jam series, inspired by summer concerts and music festivals.

Lots of great things to look at.

And lots more here.

10 Crochet Dresses That Prove Knitwear Is Hot For Summer Too!

imageUntil this season, crochet hasn’t always had the best rep, at least when it comes to summer style. I mean, not only does crochet conjure up images of that scarf creation your grandma’s been knitting for the past 6 years, but it also hardly sounds like something that would be comfortable to wear in the sweaty months of summer. Wrong! Not only would your grandma be the least likely person to rock these sexy takes on knitwear (okay, maybe not the least likely), but these dresses are fresh and breezy especially for the season ahead! This crochet halter dress from Victoria’s Secret is perfect for a day at the beach (knitwear at the beach? No joke!) or for a barbecue with friends, while this sequined version from J. Crew puts a totally different spin on the trend, making it hot for a night out! Flutter sleeve, tank, boat neck, halter, you name it — these dresses make crochet look like one of the most unexpectedly versatile looks this season! Flip through the slideshow for the selection!

pOne of our favorite (and one of the oldest) design awards, the a href=”http://www.braunprize.com/i”Braunprize/a has announced plans to expand and revamp before it’s next triennial appearance in 2012. In addition to putting the prize back on its former rotation of once every three years, the changes will increase its accessibility and engage design consumers and kindle a renewed interest in emerging markets. /p

pThe revamp is is being led by Professor Oliver Grabes, Head of Braun Corporate Design, and Phil Dunan, Pamp;G’s Global Design Officer. Grabes says:/p

blockquoteIn making some significant changes to the awards process, we are further establishing our commitment to the accessibility of this competition and want to ensure that it not only provides a showcase to those who want to pursue a career in design, but that it also encourages engagement with design for those enthusiasts and professionals outside of an academic context.” He continues “As ever, we want to support great ideas, clarity of vision and practical, beautiful and intuitive solutions to everyday concerns, the trademarks of Braun’s influential design process./blockquote

pThe details are still under wraps and the competition still long in coming, but it’s never too early to start planning!
