Schedules are tight and free-time a commodity in this fast-paced modern world. It feels like everyone from colleagues to friends and family are counting on you for something and you’re the type to always follow through. It’s impressive that so many of us are like mini Super Women, juggling all our errands and responsibilities with grace and ease, but let’s admit it. As capable as we can be, it gets pretty tiring and just once, it’d be nice to focus some time on ourselves and our own needs. While a trip to a tropical resort or a luxurious spa day is always a good idea, it’s hard to find both the time and money to so thoroughly pamper ourselves these days. No worries, though, because with just a little searching, you’d be surprised how many items, accessories and other little pick-me-ups are out there for $10 or less! Beauty must-haves, stylish apparel and other cute items are just waiting for you so now all you need is a little bit of time and some pocket change to make your day a special and stress-free one with a little treat for yourself. Click on the slideshow to see some of my favorite ways to treat myself to a little something something for $10 or less! |

We first marvelled at the curatorial panache of Brooke Hodge back when she was organizing stellar shows celebrating the likes of Gio Ponti, Zaha Hadid, and Rei Kawakubo in the cultural whirl of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Since then, she’s taken the left coast by storm (as curator of architecture and design at MOCA) with such extraordinary exhibitions as “Skin + Bones: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture.” Now Hodge is joining Team Philbin (Ann, not Regis) at the Hammer Museum as director of exhibition management and publications.
In her new role at the University of California, Los Angeles-operated institution, Hodge will provide management and guidance to the curatorial department, including assuming oversight of projects and administrative responsibility for the department’s staff and budget. She will also help to oversee the museum’s growing slate of exhibitions (have you seen Greg Lynn‘s “Fountain”?), programs, and publications. “I am thrilled to be joining the staff of what I think is one of the most dynamic museums in the country, and definitely in LAand am looking forward to helping the Hammer realize its ambitious exhibition schedule and coming publication projects,” said Hodge, who Philbin described as “a colleague we have long admired,” adding, “I know that her organizational prowess and many years of institutional experience will serve the Hammer well.”
