Timex's $1 Watch
Posted in: UncategorizedTypically, selling limited editions of products allow manufacturers to charge more by introducing artificial scarcity. In a nice twist, Timex is releasing a limited edition watch and selling it for just $1. Their Waterbury watch, meant to commemorate their 170th anniversary, will be released next month.
The Watch that Made the Dollar Famous: $1 Then, $1 Now
“Priced at just $1, this limited-edition Waterbury watch celebrates our heritage of simply great watchmaking since 1854, tracing back to our roots as the Waterbury Clock Company. It honors our iconic Yankee dollar pocket watch— our first timepiece sold at $1 and known as the watch that made the dollar famous.”
“The glossy ice white dial displays our official 170th Anniversary Edition logo, elevated by 3D lacquered Roman numeral markers, beautifully detailed retro-style hands, and a glanceable day and date window at 3 o’clock.”
“The supple natural leather strap is presented in a rich shade of English Cordovan brown and features quick-release spring bars for effortless strap changes.”
“Flip the watch over, and it reveals a unique caseback enhanced with vertical brushing and engraved with a commemoration of this special moment in our watchmaking history.”
Just 1,000 units will be made, and they’ll go on sale November 16th.
