The Honda Civic Spark

Yesterday, we saw Honda embrace nostalgia with its Super Bowl spot starring Matthew Broderick in Ferris Bueller mode. Today, another new Honda ad is released, with a more enigmatic message…

The spot, from Wieden + Kennedy London, aims to “celebrate the unknown”. It begins by following a spark of an idea as it travels through the Honda factory and then out into the world. After journeying over land and sea, the spark joins numerous others before exploding over the new Honda Civic in a display of fireworks. The ad is narrated by Honda’s regular voiceover star, Garrison Keillor.

The spot is accompanied by two new interactive games: Follow Happy, which allows users to follow the thought processes of Honda engineers, and Off The Grid, a 360 degree video experience that lets viewers “venture into the unknown”. The two games join the Honda Experiment, a pop-up extravaganza released last year. You can find all the games at youtube.com/hondacivicUK.
