“This project invites students to co-create a multimedia installation through research, recognition and exploration of the Mexican Surrealism vanguard.
“The result is a dialogue between the past and the present, where artists with new realities and different understandings of the world.
“Meanings in the subconscious reinterpret iconic works of Mexican surrealism, bringing them to life with subtle animations that reveal new, dreamlike ways of understanding.”

“The original piece, Némesis, shows the union between a person and natural elements. My interpretation portrays the union between the natural and the artificial. When does nature become artificial?
“This piece was inspired by Guillermo Meza, Némesis, 1970.”

“This reinterpretation of La lágrima del mundo by Sofía Bassi blends its surreal essence with symbols of pain, memory and resilience.
“Inspired by her tragic story, a suspended eye tears a cascade, reflecting a lost landscape. The angel flowers suggest hope, even in adversity.

“Guardianes represents the manifestation of the kabbalistic Tree of Life, illustrating the path to spiritual enlightenment in Judaism.
“Inspired by Leonora Carrington, the piece presents the sefirot as guardian creatures parading before the viewer, encircling the central figure, a symbol of cosmic balance.

“Volador de Papantla reimagines the character in Bridget Bate Tichenor’s original work as a magical being.
“This being represents a cultural-spiritual mesoamerican ceremony: the rite of the voladores – flying men – symbolising its history and significance in Mexican folklore.
