“Ready to Work” appears to promote the Levi’s workwear line, this time portraying the situation of workers and women of Braddock, Pennsylvania, which has experienced serious financial difficulties in recent times. Its mayor, John Fetterman, received national attention for his attempts to help rebuild and revive the town by enlisting the help of modern pioneers – artists, craftsmen, musicians and business owners.

Sagmeister Shreds Levi’s

Stefan Sagmeister has joined the ranks of an esteemed group of leading designers and artists that denim giant Levi Strauss has commissioned in the past to promote their brand of late. His distinct approach to design was the common thread Levi’s was looking for. And boy did he go all out on this one.

He shredded a pair of Levis thread by thread, dismantling studs, zippers, pockets labels — then pieced the elemets back together again. This piece in the end is classic Stefan Sagmeister, with playful typography and infused graphics composed of none other than the deconstructed pieces of a pair of 501 Jeans.

You can view the display at American Rag’s L.A. location and San Francisco location. To launch the promotion the word on the street is that a limited run of 501 museum-quality, poster reproductions of the graphics will be distributed for FREE at both locations.
