DAVE LIESKE

Aka: Davey Gravy

http://daveygravy.ca/

Davey Gravy is a very talented artist from Calgary, Alberta.

In his final years at ACAD, he was introduced to cross-stitching. While he was looking for a new way of looking at things, he immediately immersed himself in the foreign practice of cross-stitching.

His background in graffiti and amazing letterform drawings quickly came through, and in turn, his rap-themed cross-stitch became something new and refreshing.

Wonderfully realistic paintings from Mike Bayne, more images after the jump

He does a great job on such a small scale, capturing the day-to-day and the mundane from across the continent. He has a show opening soon in NYC, have a look if you’re in the neighborhood. Check his site here, enjoy!

Mike Ellis

SUCCESS[3]

Some nice hand work from Toronto illustrator Mike Ellis. More after the jump.

Anthony Gerace

gerace

My good friend Anthony Gerace is one of the most unique young designers that I know. On top of his design work, he’s constantly creating these amazing collages and posters.

Check out his flickr stream to see more of his work, and if you’re ever in Toronto, drop by The Ossington (61 Ossington ave.), where Anthony DJ’s every other Saturday night.

Designed by Shim Sutcliffe, this Toronto house was recently built for Dr. James Stewart, who made millions writing calculus textbooks.

The residence is located in Rosedale, and cost $24 million to build.

Congrats and thanks to Anneke, the winner of our Radiosack contest.

It’s an homage to Canadian listeners of CBC 1 and 2, a radio that simply features a switch to toggle between the two. Other features are hidden on the bottom of the device, including MP3 capabilities. More from Science & Sons here.

Wicked style with a consistently tight execution. He’s done a lot of work around Toronto, I’m sure you’ll recognize a couple.

Lots more on his blog.

I Wonder

bantjes1

Released just about a month ago, ‘I Wonder’ is Marian Bantjes’s latest book showcasing her gorgeous ornamental and graphic type studies.

Bantjes has been named by Sagmeister as ‘one of the most innovative typographers working today’, not that Sagmeister’s praise are needed, as her work’s quality speaks for itself. Take a look at more from ‘I Wonder’ on her site, and check out her other work below.

Darren Booth
