Celeb Poll – Best-Dressed At The Oscars

imageAccording to some sources, this was the worst-dressed Oscars we’ve seen in some time, but we here at StyleHive would have to disagree! Many stars showed up in gorgeous couture gowns and impeccable hair and makeup. We had a hard time narrowing it down to our three fave celeb beauties and need your help to choose which was the best dressed!

Or was it Lady in Red and hostess of the night, Anne Hathaway? Her red Valentino gown and red lips, plus diamond choker and tousled up-do was the epitome of red carpet glam.

Maybe Halle Berry gets your vote with her frothy and sparkling champagne gown that showed of her sexy toned shoulders and hugged her curves. The sultry smoky eye was a great touch!

Street Style – How To Wear Your Red and Pinks After V-day!

imageIn celebration of Valentines Day, and in an effort to not be overly sappy, we’ve decided to find five ways to show help show your festive side with pieces that can still be stylish after!

A pop of red or pink is a great way to show your appreciation for this holiday of love, and by steering away from lacy hearts and anything too girly and sweet, we’re able to still wear many of these V-pieces even after today!

Red is always a bold and sensual color, and bright pinks are fun and eye-catching. Soft blush pinks are the perfect compliment to the neutral hued trend for Spring! Take a look at our fave ways to wear red and pink for Valentine’s Day and after!

Hot Heels – Red shoes are the classic sexy accessory, adding just the right amount of daring! Stilettos make our legs look great and patent leather pair will really put the focus on those gams! Try blush toned pumps for a more demure style!

The Dress – A red dress is a true show-stopper and exudes sexy confidence and will really make you stand out! Pair with red heels for a truly festive look, or opt for a pair of leg-elongating nude pumps! Need a bright color but not digging the red? Hot pink is a great choice and makes the look more fun and youthful!

Red Bag – Whether it’s to run errands with, or as a sweet little bag for the night, a red bag is always a great accessory. It’s a great statement piece as a tote or a clutch and gives even the simplest of ensembles a dating vibe!

Skirt/ Shorts – If a red dress may be a little much, try a flirty skirt or pair of structured shorts to wear just the right amount of color! A flared mini is flirty and sweet, while cuffed shorts are chic. Pair them with blush or nude heels to really show off those legs!

Beauty Pick Me Up – Winter Nails

imageDespite their small size, our nails actually make up a large part of our look. Whether you go for a clean and bare look, or are the type to try the latest crazy manicure trends, the state and color of our nails play a large role. This winter, make the right statement with your nail polish. With the holiday season upon us, it’s a great time to try something a little flashier and festive, or opt for a dark shade that is at once chic and mirrors the somber days of winter. We’ve chosen our five favorite shades for the winter and holiday season. Click the slideshow!

Metallic – Metallics like gold, silver and bronze are definitely in from handbags to outerwear. A metallic manicure is a fun way to add a little shine to a holiday emsemble, or just as a way to stay festive on any given day!

Dark Purple – Deep purple shades were once seen as a mark for royalty, and for good reason! A dark violet is softer than harsh black or navy blue and gives an air of instant sophistication. A very regal hue, dark purple is not only perfect for that office party outfit, but as a day to day winter shade as well!

Bright Red – It’s a classic. Bold, sexy and feminine, bright red nails are definitely eye-catching. At once sensual and retro, a slick cherry red amps up any ensemble and makes even the most casual outfits look polished and pulled together. Just remember to use a fresh layer of top coat every couple of days to keep the nails looking fresh and shiny!

Greige – What? Yes. Greige. It’s a mix between grey and beige, giving the ever versatile nude polish a modern and chic makeover. It elongates fingers and matches every thing. It’s simple, clean and polished and the added touch of grey makes it more winter appropriate.

Glitter Top Coat – A truly fun and festive way to partake in the current metallic trend! Brush on a layer of gold or silver flecked top coat to any nail color and you’re instantly party ready! With so much glitz in just your nails, who needs any other accessories? Try the glitter look with everyday jeans for added shine!

Street Style – Cozy Loose Layers

imageYup. It’s cold outside. And while big down jackets and wool coats are a great way to stay warm, donning layers is the way to keep insulated. Loose layers are a chic way to stay cozy and comfortable and is a great way to look nonchalantly stylish.

Plus, freezing winds outside means war toasty heat indoors. Layers are a great way to customize just how warm you want to be. Try long infinity scarves or thigh grazing cardigans and sweaters, or look for loosely draped long sleeved tops and tunics. Bright colors are a good way to break up the look and give your ensemble a distinct direction, saving you from looking like you rolled haphazardly in a pile of knitwear.

Wear these layering pieces over jeans or leggings and under an oversized anorak for a laid-back vibe, or try a cute tweed skirt and OTK boots under a wool coat for a classic winter look. Click on the slideshow to see some favorite ways to get the loose, layered look for yourself!
