Already a long time ago Sandra Jongedijk was my guest on BloesemKids for an Open House tour and ever since I follow her blog and the things she creates. Last week she told me about a house sale and some new products… these super soft looking stools, I like them very much and although they are already sold out I did want to share them with you. Perhaps it will encourage her to make more 🙂

Update: stools are not sold out…if you would like to order one, pls send Sandra an email.

Maartjevannoort

39 since one day 🙂 my goodness this lady is getting old! Thank you all for the lovely emails, tweets, comments and facebook messages, very very kind of you!

While I was in Amsterdam last Summer I saw these amazing lamps over at Re-stored, a great shop at the Haarlemmerstraat … Maartje van den Noort makes these super fantastic Lappionnen and I truly regret I didn't bought one while I had the chance, would have been a great Birthday present 🙂 …. well actually I can still buy one by sending her an email, more info right here… Maartje likes using unusual color and pattern combinations. For the Lappionnen she uses vintage fabrics but als fabrics with her own illustrations on it.

Nieuwerwets, Rosa Pomar and Ontwerpduo…inside design

Saskiaclarijs

A little while back Saskia Clarijs made a report for Bloesem about Inside Design Amsterdam 2010…and although this event already happened I still would like to show your some of the images she had made because they are so beautiful and inspiring. Saskia runs a Trend Analyzing agency in the Netherlands called Nieuwerwets. She helps companies to establish, develop and improve their marketing communications.

Rosapomar

This post also gives me the opportunity to explain a bit about a misunderstanding between Ontwerpduo and Rosa Pomar. Tineke Beunders from Ontwerpduo found a what she thought vintage ribbon at a flea market one day in Amsterdam…she loved it so much that she decided to make a huge cross-stitch pattern out of it and use

it as reupholster for one their newly designed benches. When seeing this bench on Bloesem Rosa Pomar and some of her fans immediately recognized the pattern and sent me emails about possible 'copy-cat' issues…well I can assure you that this was not the case but a true misunderstanding. Both Rosa and Tineke are now very happy with the result…I suggested a possible future cooperation could be nice for all of us!

New Bloesem

Welcome to my new Bloesem….wow such a wonderful milestone for me,  as a person and for my journal that has grown into this online space that I’ve loved working in every day for the last four years… as I said before this weekend, it was not easy saying goodbye to my pink girl but it is wonderful to say hello to my new Miss 'b', a fragrance I already love wearing…hope you will like her too…

Studioaandacht_breed

Together with the super talented Ben Lambers from Dutch Studio Aandacht I have been working on new Bloesem and BloesemKids…It only took Ben a short while to understand the new direction of Bloesem that I was dreaming… I very much enjoyed working with Ben… although I was probably one of his more difficult customers… 🙂 .., many thanks Ben for understanding Bloesem and being committed to this project!

When all was finished I asked Ben the following 3 questions:

*What were your initial thoughts when starting to create a new logo for Bloesem?
Pink. Positive. Fresh. Fun. Friendly. Feminin.

*Why the parfume bottle and Elephant for BloesemKids?
The parfume bottle sprays a little bit of happines all over  the world.
I first started out with type made from pins and pink thread.
But it got to complicated, in the end only the 'blossem' spray stayed.

The Elephant stands for Kualalumpur.
When moms in Holland read a book for their children and they finish their last sentence
they ask the elephant to 'blow the story out…'
This elephant doesn't blow the story 'out', but starts it…

*What would you like to see be added to the BloesemBlog in the future?
Moving images.

Studioaandacht_new

Now, where do we go from here…my vision is for Bloesem to be a place for you to come to and find beauty and imagination.

Look. Pause. Dream. Bloesem.

{ps. a big Thanks to the Typepad team, Colleen and Laura, they have done an amazing job in building the new blog templates for both Bloesem and BKids. I have been a typepad user since I started blogging and I was thinking of moving to wordpress, but am so HAPPY i stayed with typepad, thank you guys!}

studio MHL for Elle Inside Design

Opendagijm22Opendagijm20

Monique from studio-mhl was invited by Frank from ijm studio to help him make objects/decoration/art for Inside Design 2010…and of course she said yes. On her blog you can follow nicely how she started with gathering inspiration, making drawings with on paper and wood and cutting them out by hand until the last process of placing them randomly on the wall and see here the result…I LOVE it and wish one of our walls in our house would look so nice. Monique says they small pieces of art can either be used as brooches or keep them as wall decoration.

Opendagijm19

a bit more about Monique … she has her own jewellery label called mhl. Together with Bonne (BonBon Boutique) she shares a showroom and work space in Amsterdam.

And this is how her work looked like at ijm studio during Inside Design 2010, the images below were taken by April and May

Thank You Jantine for telling me about Monique's great contribution to ijm location!

Elle Inside Design Amsterdam…at ijm studio

*all images by April and May

Like yesterday Jantine Vaartjes visited Inside Design for us. One (main) part of the event took place in the Lloyd Hotel but there ware also 4 Design strongholds throughout the city. One was ijm studio.

ijm studio is responsible for many productions in ELLE Wonen magazine so obviously many people enjoyed visitng his studio and when seeing the images I totally understand why! He has got some styling talent! Of course he had help from some respected artists like Monique from studio-mhl….more about her in the next post.

At the ijm studio there was much to explore, unqiue decors in ijm studio style,  many beautiful matte colors and unusual color combinations. A kind of fairy tale world where everything can be seen. ijm sees himself primarily as a storyteller in material, color and mood.
