How people store their things, and particularly how craftspeople store their tools, is something I find highly fascinating. I constantly struggle to get my own collection into some semblance of order, using a combination of purchased and purpose-built storage devices, yet not a week goes by that I don’t spent time looking for something I can’t find.

As we saw with his Ultimate Workbench, Washington-based carpenter Ron Paulk is a guy who designs and builds his own solutions, in addition to other peoples’ homes. To transport a multitude of tools and parts to a job site, he developed his Ultimate Tool Trailer, which is a marvel of intelligent organization, compression and accessibility. The extremely well-thought-out layout pairs those two most difficult of marriage partners—a high density of stuff and the ability to find exactly what you’re looking for in seconds.
