Pintar Rapido: create a painting in a day

Walk through the streets of Kensington and Chelsea in London this weekend and you may see streets full of artists as the Pintar Rapido festival comes to the capital

Pintar Rapido (literally ‘painting quickly’) originated in Spain but has been brought to London by designer and former Design Week publisher Roger Beckett. The idea is to bring artists out onto city streets where they must paint a picture in a single day. The work is then exhibited the following day to the public.

On July 13, over 300 artists (including Adebanji Alade (World’s End, below, and John Dobbs (St Paul’s, top, and Borough, above) will be participating, many gathering in groups in locations such as Duke of Yorks Square or the Chelsea Embankment. The following day will see an exhibition of the work produced at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
