A profoundly peated single malt scotch whisky (at 137.3 PPM), Bruichladdich’s Octomore 13.1 has been distilled from the beloved brand’s 2015 harvest of 100% Scottish Mainland barley. The smokey Islay spirit has been aged in ex-bourbon and ex-Tennessee whiskey American oak casks and further matured in first fill American oak. This process lends flavorful notes of toffee, almond and vanilla to the otherwise earthy, leathery and char-toward spirit. It weighs in at a substantial 59.2% ABV. Two other Octomore 13 variations—13.2 and 13.3—have also been released.
