We finish with another charity campaign, this time for the German Red Cross. Created by Jung von Matt in Hamburg, the campaign aims to draw attention to the importance of supporting street musicians, who are often homeless. The agency took a selection of 50 musicians online, where instead of standing in front of high street shops playing their instruments, they played on the homepages of online stores, with audiences encouraged to donate to their cause with a few clicks. More info on the campaign, and the musicians who took part in it, can be found on this microsite. Agency: Jung von Matt/Fleet, Hamburg. Creative directors: Doerte Spengler-Ahrens, Jan Rexhausen. Creatives: Eric van den Hoonaard, Andreas Hilbig. Film production: Markenfilm Crossing, Hamburg.

Our March issue is an illustration special with features on Clifford Richards, Pick Me Up, the relationship between illustrators and writers, the making of the cover of the New York Times Magazine and a powerful essay by Lawrence Zeegen calling on illustrators to become more engaged with the wider world and accusing the profession of withdrawing “from the big debates of our society to focus on the chit-chat and tittle-tattle of inner-sanctum nothingness”.
The best way to make sure you receive CR in print every month is to subscribe – you will also save money and receive our award-winning Monograph booklet every month. You can do so here.
