Droga5 creative Graham Douglas has collaborated with Help Remedies (a US healthcare product brand) to create a ingenious way for people to easily join the bone marrow donor register in the US…

Douglas’s idea is simple: to provide easy-to-use donor registration kits along with Help Remedies’ packs of plasters. The kits require users to apply a small sample of blood – remember they are bleeding anyway, hence reaching for the plasters – to a set of sterile swabs included with the bandages. They then send their samples and contact details to DKMS, the donor centre affliated with the project, who will follow up with them upon receiving the swabs. Here’s what the donor kit looks like:

The product launched this week at the TED 2012 Full Spectrum Conference in Long Beach, California, and is already available for US purchase via Help Remedies’ website, for just $4.
