Great Design: A Shower Mixer Designed for Greater Accessibility

This Mira Select Flex Mixer Shower is designed for those with accessibility issues and the visually impaired. The design uses both high-contrast visuals and purposeful shapes to improve the UX.

The controls have been separated into three easy-to-manipulate controls. The loop handle controls the temperature, with easy-to-read markings and colors.

The black lever above, in high contrast to the white of the rest of the unit, operates the flow.

The button to the left, also marked with a high-contrast icon, turns the shower on and off.

All of this makes it easy for someone with say, arthritis and/or poor vision to manipulate the shower. And for those who prefer to shower at the same temperature and flow rate each day, there’s no need to adjust each time: Simply hit the on button, and the other controls are already dialed in.

Overall a fantastic design.
