tmiyakawa.jpeg

Does this look like a bomb? Brooklyn-based designer Takeshi Miyakawa was arrested early on Saturday while installing his “I Heart NY” lighting project around Brooklyn. A bystander called the police bomb squad on account of “suspicious activity.” As The New York Times reported on Sunday night, the installation was timed for NY Design Week and was intended to be a love letter to New York City. What can you do?

1. Statement Letter

Prepare a statement letter on your letterhead (this will be for character references). State the following, if possible:
– Your profession;
– How you know Takeshi;
– How long you have known Takeshi;
– Your impressions of Takeshi, in terms of your personal and/or professional dealings;
– Any knowledge you have about his installation which led to his arrest;
– Detail your knowledge of Takeshi’s works & various projects

Please sign the letter & have it notarized.

Then scan and send by email to: tmiyakawadesign@gmail.com (yes, we have access to his email account).

2. Letter to Mayor Bloomberg
