First 3D Colour X-Rays Unveiled
Posted in: UncategorizedA New Zealand company has generated the first 3D color X-Ray images of the human body by using an advanced medical scanner. The scanner utilizes CERN’s Medipix3 technology and has been in development for a decade. It’s able to produce high resolution images thanks to particle tracking technology.âMedipix is a family of read-out chips for particle imaging and detection. The original concept of Medipix is that it works like a camera, detecting and counting each individual particle hitting the pixels when its electronic shutter is open. This enables high-resolution, high-contrast, very reliable images, making it unique for imaging applications in particular in the medical field.âhe new device, based on the traditional black-and-white X-ray, incorporates particle-tracking technology developed for CERNâs Large Hadron Collider, which in 2012 discovered the elusive Higgs Boson particle. âThis colour X-ray imaging technique could produce clearer and more accurate pictures and help doctors give their patients more accurate diagnoses,â said a CERN statement…(Read…)
