Eco-design from Colombia: Cyclus bags

Another piece of animal-inspired design, this one based on an anteater: The Pangolin line of bags uses recycled inner tubes to recreate an armadillo-like shell, which hinges open via chrome pivots and latches shut with magnets.

It’s manufactured by Colombia-based Cyclus, a company pushing the eco-design philosophy on several fronts. In addition to using inner tubes as their chief raw material, Cyclus also takes in used clothing and plastic bottles and employs low-income families to process those materials into useable fabric.
