DIY Flood Levees

Popular Mechanics has a piece up on “How to Build a Homemade Levee.” If that sounds crazy or like more work than the average Joe is capable of, take a look at the above photo, by Arkansas Online photographer Benjamin Krain. It ain’t easy, but it’s doable with the right equipment.
The UK’s Mail Online is currently featuring an astonishing must-see slidehow of helicopter shots of houses ringed by more such levees in Mississippi. (Unfortunately, not all of them succeeded in keeping back the water.)
