CR Club: Alan Kitching talk and tour of GraphicsRCA

To launch CR Club – our new subscriber initiative – we are holding an invite-only event: a talk by the world-renowned typographer and letterpress practitioner, Alan Kitching, which will take place at The Royal College of Art in London coinciding with their GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years exhibition…

Letterpress @ The RCA will take place on the evening of November 11. Following Kitching’s lecture, there will also be a tour of the college’s newly opened GraphicsRCA: Fifty Years exhibition by Adrian Shaughnessy, one of the show’s curators.

Kitching began working in letterpress in 1985, while at the Omnific studio he had founded with Derek Birdsall in 1977. He established his famous Typography Workshop in Clerkenwell in the late 1980s and taught letterpress at the Royal College of Art from 1991 to 2006.

The schedule for the CR Club evening (6pm-8.30pm, November 11) is as follows:

6.00pm – guests arrive
6.15pm – guests to be seated
6.30pm – lecture begins
7.15pm – gallery tour
8.30pm – close

To book a place, subscribers should log in to the CR site using their subscriber number (if you don’t know what that is please call us on +44 (0) 207 292 370) and access the CR Club page about the event, here.

The aim behind CR Club is to make our subscribers feel part of a privileged community by giving them the opportunity to attend shows, talks or events and behind-the-scenes tours; and receive discounts on exclusive prints, books and brands they love. At launch we have other deals in place with the Design Museum, publishers Thames & Hudson and clothing brand, Tripl Stitched – with more to be announced.

You can find out more about CR Club here – and if you’re not already a CR subscriber, further information on our subscription packages is here.
