Core77 Photo Gallery: ITP Spring Show 2011
Posted in: UncategorizedNYU’s Spring show for the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) featured over a hundred awesome projects with a noticeable shift towards students incorporating a broader range of body parts and senses to interact with. Recent advances in the Arduino platform and Kinect hacking fueled much of the technology in prototypes built almost exclusively with 3D printing, CNC milling and laser cutting.
Take a look through the gallery for our highlights from the show and don’t miss Brett Murphy’s tabletop surround sound mixer for young children SoundStage, Minette Mangahas’ Sonic Physiognomy that uses facial scanning to create a series of musical scores based on the topography of the human face and unique patterns of the iris, and Benji Canning-Pereira’s crazy thermochromic hair gel that changes color in seconds—he thinks it’s safe.
