e-Blast From the Past

This twist on the e-bike travels back in time to 1865, the year BASF was founded. This was also the time when the wooden “Dandy Horse” invented by Karl Drais was given its first pedals, and as velocipede launched the bicycle on the road to global success. As a tribute to this era of technology and invention, BASF and the DING3000 design studio have developed a velocipede with today’s state-of-the-art technology – including 24 high-performance plastics, specialty foams, epoxy resin and polyurethane materials from BASF.

Possibly the Sexiest E-Bike Ever?

Nikos Manafis’ e-bike concept achieves its sharp, aerodynamic form through a manufacturing process that consists of folding sheets of aluminum around minimal, lightweight frame. But it’s an electric bike, so where is the motor?— Not one but two 250W in-wheel motors work either separately for extended range, or together for an extra boost of speed. Extras include a classic Brooks saddle and 3d printed lenses for LED tail lights! Watch the 360!

Modern Throwback Moto

In pure cafe racer style, the Monocasco pays homage to retro motorcycle designs, but with a modern compact electric motor in substitute of a twin petrol engine normally found in this style. Its combination of slim fairs, single tube headlight, and fat tires give it a late 60s racer vibe. Fast looking, but not aggressive, this fashionable bike is one that the ladies will love.

Ultimate Urban Commuter

Fed up with a tiresome train commute in his local Sydney, designer Richard Heath designed this modern city commuter, the BlueSkyBike. The electric assisted, folding design features a rear hub motor, angled folding mechanism for easy transportation and storage, a regenerative braking system for supplemented energy, and even smartphone linking capability that makes it possible to monitor energy systems and the bike’s security. Besides all that nifty tech, it’s just plain cute! Hit the jump for the video!

Adapt-A-Cycle

The Sorena folding bike concept uses a clever combination of intuitive locking levers to easily switch between riding and carrying positions. In just four steps it transforms from operable bike to compact carry-on that’s easy to manage on the train, bus or walking anywhere you can’t ride. The most unique feature is the bike’s adjustable length and distance between handlebar to saddle. Riders of any size, sex, or shape can fine-tune their riding position for maximum comfort and efficiency.
