It’s hard to believe that we’re already five weeks into the Coroflot Genius Gallery… but then again, summer always seems to fly by. It might just be the sweltering weather talking, but Coroflot members are bringing the heat as always. Our picks this week range from Diego Fernandez’s elegant drawings to Ben King’s surprisingly imaginative medical concepts, not to mention dozens of other exemplary works from six other members in this week’s gallery:

Diego Fernandez (Buenos Aires, Argentina) – Diego captures the beauty of his subjects with just a touch of artistic license.

Negura Nicolae (IASI, Romania) – Negura combines traditional draftsmanship with a graphic designer’s sense of pattern and layout.

Ben King (Edmonton, AB) – As an industrial designer working in the “wacky world of reconstructive medicine,” Ben comes up with clever solutions that make a difference.

Miguel Sanchez (Requena, Spain) – Miguel is the industrial designer’s designer, rendering his brilliant concepts

Zsolt Vidak (Budapest, Hungary) – Zsolt’s superb linework is nicely complemented by a vibrant pop palette.

Jeff Owens (Athens, GA) – Jeff’s illustrative work stands out for his bold aesthetic and sense of humor.

Sabino Leerentveld (Rotterdam, Netherlands) – Sabino’s eye-popping vehicle designs look ready to drive off the screen.

Aleksandar Stojsic (Srbobran / Novi Sad, Yugoslavia) – Aleksandar creates playful cartoons, illustrations and graphic design in his colorful signature style.

Remember, we’re accepting submissions through September: even if you don’t see your name turn up next Monday, rest assured that we thoroughly review each and every portfolio and may consider your work for future editions of the Genius Gallery, the good ol’ Member Gallery or even Featured Portfolios or Flotspotting. Coroflot members keep bringing the the “boom-shaka-laka” with their awesome portfolios, as we find ourselves swimming in excellent work to choose from these past few weeks. While not quite the best way to cool off in the summer, we can’t really complain about the abundance—so we’re taking into account a broader playing field from here on out.

Of course, the criteria is the same: strong ideas executed as striking imagery, and we’re pleased to announce eight new portfolio selections that reflect this standard of brilliance:

Adam Quest (Poznan, Poland) – Adam does a nice job adding a vintage feel to his eye-catching illustrations.

Vil Tsimenzin (Boston, MA) – Vil’s heavy-duty renderings really jump off the screen with their incredible detailing.

Vaughan Ling (Los Angeles, CA) – Vaughan has a gift for dreaming up amazing spaceship concepts, not to mention translating them into realistic renderings.

James Peay (New York, NY) – A strong sense of light and shadow add a bit of pop to James’ comic book style.

Jason Phillips (Greensboro, NC) – Jason designs unconventional furniture with a geometric twist… sometimes literally.

Lisa Buckridge (Watford, United Kingdom) – Lisa combines a fascinating Ralph Steadman-like technique with a passion for food.

Mikhail Gubin (Kew Gardens, NY) – Mikhail constructs curious vernacular sculptures from the detritus of Manhattan.

The Velvet Mode (San Francisco, CA) – The Velvet Mode’s elegant logo and graphic designs are characterized by consummate command of text and image.

This summer, Core77 & Coroflot have partnered with Blurb, the online photo book publisher, to bring our readers the Coroflot Genius Gallery, a contest celebrating some of our members’ most inspired creative visual work.
