Art in Your Home :: Julie Heger

AH1

We're doing things a bit different today with this particular Art in Your Home post. We've decided to go inside the home of shop owner Julie Heger. She's the creator and owner of the lovely Maison Deco, and has graciously invited us into her home.

A: Art means to me…art for me brings more life into your home and everyday. Art to me is also being able to mix art, modern design and ancient items to give your home more personality. I also love

R: Reading books, blogs or magazines…reading books is pure relaxing to me, I get a lot of inspiration from reading blogs and magazines  – especially for home decoration. I just started reading “Nomad: From Islam to America” by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.

T: Trends I see in art or graphic design are…actually I do not follow trends in art – I just like it or not.

A: Artists I admire are…Ursula Munch-Petersen a Danish ceramist. Her production includes both sculptural shaped unique pieces as well as mass-produced objects and I love the functional and visual qualities of her products. Among others she has produced the porcelain series “Ursula” in co-operation with Royal Copenhagen. I have quite a few of her objects myself – both some of her unique items as well as some of the mass-produced ones.

N: Never will I…go alone to the cinema

D: Dreams for my own work are about…to succeed with my newly started webshop

JH3

P: Projects I'm currently working on are…launching my webshop in the Benelux countries

R: Relaxing I do at/when/if…our summerhouse at the coast in Nieuwport and when I read books. I also find it very relaxing to go for a walk in the beautiful nature.

I: Interesting art focused websites…I do not really know art focused websites but I love the Picasso museum in Antibes and the Salvador Dali museum at Place de Tertre in Paris.

N: New in my home is…a red wall clock in my kitchen – I simply love it – it is simple and brings color into my home

T: Tomorrow I would like to go to…tomorrow I have to go to the second hand clothing shop to sell some of the clothes taking too much space in my closet and that I never wear.

S: Studio, my studio is…my small office in my private home that works great even though I do not have a lot of space – but I have decorated it practically and there is a lot of light from the window.

Thank you Julie for opening your home to us, and we wish you much success with your new business!
