The Salone del Mobile (a.k.a. the Milan Furniture Fair) turns 50 next year, and its Marni-clad organizers are starting the celebration early…in NYC. “I Saloni Milano in New York” is a grande celebration of Italian design, art, and culture that runs through January 8. Twenty of the city’s best Italian furniture and lighting showrooms are in on the fun (as if you needed another reason to drool over the wares at Flos and Poltrona Frau), and two cultural events are involved: Robert Wilson’s “Perchance to Dream” installation at Center 548 and Peter Greenaway’s take on “Leonardo’s Last Supper” at the fantastico Park Avenue Armory.Do you hear a bird whistling as to if to herald the readiness of tea?
