Stella McCartney has unveiled the gear she designed for the British Olympic team and its fans. There’s a touch of faded ‘70s glamour in her gold-flecked “Team GB” collections, which include grey sweats, vibrantly striped t-shirts, and a hoodie adorned with studs meant to symbolize the medals won by the British at the Beijing Olympics. “We really wanted to capture the movement of sport and style,” said McCartney, who has collaborated with Adidas on an activewear collection since 2005. “There’s such a buzz in London already about the fact that the Olympic Games are coming here, and we just wanted to kind of give people something to celebrate that.”And speaking of McCartney, the fashion house where she ignited her career has a new creative director. Richemont-owned Chloé has ousted Hannah MacGibbon and welcomed designer Clare Waight Keller, who left Pringle of Scotland in March. Look for future collections to be heavy on knitwear, as Chloé has also brought on Tom Van Lingen, a veteran of Céline and Sonia Rykiel, as director of ready-to-wear. The first collection under the new team hits the runway in October.New Career Opportunities Daily: The best jobs in media.
