Exhibitor: Alyssa.Marcela
Project title: Peel Vase Series
Alyssa.Marcela is a Vancouver design duo led by Alyssa Lewis and Marcela Trejo, whose work focuses on creating objects and interior environments that offer “moments of simplicity”.
The studio is launching its Peel Vase Series as part of VDF x Ventura Projects. The collection explores the aesthetic and function of vases that are used to display cut flowers.
The Peel Vase Series comprises a set of containers made from white paper. Each is composed of a single cylindrical volume encased by an unfolding sheath, which is designed to evoke “the peeling of a stem,” according to the duo.
Alyssa.Marcela’s use of paper also offers a delicate material finish that is reminiscent of both the fragility and strength of plants.
