Adidas wraps the Metro during the Olympic Games

Jessica Ennis by Ian Wright

During London 2012, Adidas has been working with UK free paper Metro, creating cover wraps for each day of the Games that feature portraits of Team GB athletes by a selection of artists and illustrators…

The project was conceived by ad agency Sid Lee, in association with the Church of London. Each cover features a different artistic style, as the selection of images below reveals:

Group Team GB illustration by Joshua Budich

Aaron Ramsey by Another Example

Andy Murray by Magnus Voll Mathiassen

Sir Chris Hoy by Tavis Coburn

Louis Smith by Charles Williams

Zoe Smith by Paul Willoughby

Here’s an image of how the cover featuring Joe Wilson’s image of Peter Reed looks in full, including the inside pages:

The campaign runs for the 17 days of the Games and in addition to enjoying the portraits with your morning jaunt to work, Metro readers are encouraged to take a copy of each cover wrap into your local Adidas store where you can pick up a limited edition print of that day’s illustration. The project ends on Sunday, but if you act fast you can still get the last three prints!
