City cars could become smaller thanks to electrification says Peugeot head of concepts

Peugeot Inception Concept Hypersquare

The “global footprint of the automotive in big cities” could shrink thanks to advances in car technology, Peugeot‘s Philippe-Emmanuel Jean told Dezeen at the European unveiling of the brand’s Inception Concept EV.

Swapping the conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) for batteries, which are reducing in size, means car manufacturers will be able to produce spacious interiors in smaller vehicles, the Peugeot head of concept cars and brand planning said.

“The footprint on ICE cars is not that good because the engine takes up a lot of space, so at the end you have a big footprint and a space for people which is not that big,” Jean said.

“For electric platforms the footprint is much better because in the same space you can have a bigger space for people – that’s what helps us to create this living-room effect we want in our cars,” he added.

“Especially in front of the car you free more space, and that’s something which is great for people but also in terms of footprint, because in a compact car you can have a space for people which is as big as a space in maybe a bigger car when you look at ICE cars.”

Peugeot head of concepts Philippe-Emmanuel Jean suggested EV technology could make cars smaller

Asked if this could lead to family-sized cars becoming smaller, Jean responded: “Clearly.”

“It’s also interesting for big cities because you can have more space in more compact cars, and at the end, the global footprint of the automotive in big cities is also less important – which, I think, is the direction that is important for the future,” he said.

Jean spoke to Dezeen at an event in Paris where European media were given a glimpse of Peugeot’s new Inception Concept electric vehicle (EV) for the first time.

The Inception Concept is billed as a design “manifesto” for Peugeot

One of the concept car’s defining features is a sweeping windscreen that extends down within a foot of the front, made possible by the battery sitting on the floor of the vehicle instead of under the bonnet.

Described by Jean as a design “manifesto”, the five-metre-long Inception Concept has a dramatic, angular form that was partly informed by brutalist architecture.

The concept vehicle is said to forecast the direction of Peugeot’s production cars from around 2025, with the French automaker aiming to move upmarket and place a greater emphasis on the “driving experience”.

Rear of Peugeot Inception Concept

Among the features in the Inception Concept expected to shortly be rolled out more widely by Peugeot is the Hypersquare, which replaces the steering wheel.

This is part of Peugeot’s plan to introduce electronic steering – also known as steer-by-wire – by 2025, which will be more sensitive than conventional analogue steering.

The Hypersquare, which was informed by video games, is a rectilinear device with circular holes in each of its corners that mimic the feel of a steering wheel and also features a tablet-type touchscreen.

It replaces mechanical links with digital electric controls and is controlled by movements similar to how we use a smartphone.

In a nod to self-driving technology, at the touch of a button the Hypersquare and a cylindrical dashboard unit fold away to be replaced by a screen nearly the full width of the car.

The car is dominated by a glass roof with dichroic Narema glazing that reflects warmer colours externally, but more blues on the inside.

Peugeot’s design team took cues from the François-Mitterrand Library and Institut Français de la Mode in Paris when selecting the glass.

Other motifs expected to make it to mass-market Peugeot cars include chunky air vents and triple-strip headlights with a starry-sky effect panel.

The Inception Concept also has oversized wheels with tubeless tyres, with a colour-changing marque that stays upright as the wheels turn.

Architectural glass dominates much of the car

The wheel hubs are made from a carbon-fibre-like material produced from textile offcuts leftover in the Peugeot design studio from a previous concept car project. The same material also forms the chassis.

It is one of several examples of experiments with materials used in the vehicle.

The matte finish uses less varnish than typical car paint, giving it a smaller carbon footprint while also accentuating the shine of the glass.

The interior is intended to respond to advances in car engineering such as self-driving technology

Inside, brushed steel is left exposed alongside matching silvery velvet. The seats have been designed to leave parts of their materials exposed in a technique Peugeot calls “air quilting”, which it claims assists recycling.

The floor is made of 3D-printed resin bumps laid over velvet. This same process was used by Emeric Tchatchoua of fashion brand 3 Paradis to produce a Peugeot-branded jacket that accompanied the Inception Concept launch.

The lower parts of the car body are also 3D printed, producing a perforated effect.

Many aspects of the Inception Concept’s design, such as the amount of glass at the front and the heavily reclining seats, would not pass safety checks.

But Jean said the two-year project had enabled Peugeot’s design team to try new things that would otherwise not have been possible.

“You have to think about a concept car like a laboratory for our designers,” he said.

“It’s really pushing the boundaries of creativity with a concept car, testing solutions in terms of design, in terms of technology, and then in parallel, adapting it for the next generation of production cars.”

Peugeot said the design of the seats makes the materials easier to recycle

“So a concept car has really a great role to play in the future of Peugeot and yes, it’s a lot of time, it’s a lot of energy for the whole team, but it’s really important if you want to really push the boundaries and design attractive products for the future,” he added.

On the subject of using recycled materials in mainstream cars, he indicated that fully circular design remains a long way off.

“The car industry is a world of constraints so clearly it’s a long process,” said Jean. “What’s interesting for us is to test solutions with concept cars and then work with the engineers to bring the solutions into production, but of course it also takes a lot of time.”

“But it’s definitely something important to us,” he continued. “Today it’s a matter of responsibility and it’s clearly something that Peugeot wants to push forward for the future.”

Peugeot, which is part of the transnational car conglomerate Stellantis Group, has made a commitment to be carbon net-zero by 2038 with all its cars sold in Europe to be electric by 2030.

Other concept cars featured on Dezeen include the colour-changing BMW i Vision Dee, the Polestar O2, which has a built-in drone, and Hyundai’s electrified remake of its 1980s Grandeur saloon.

Concrete warehouse creates tactile backdrop for Italian art gallery by AMAA

Exterior of Threshold and Treasure art gallery in Italy by AMAA

A concrete gateway marks the entrance to the Threshold and Treasure art gallery, which architecture studio AMAA has housed in a former print house in Arzignano, Italy.

Created for the cultural association Atipografia, the gallery occupies the tactile, unfinished interiors of a 19th-century masonry and timber warehouse, which has been framed and extended with concrete, glass and steel additions.

AMAA has created the Threshold and Treasure art gallery in Italy

AMAA‘s design for Threshold and Treasure takes the form of a sequence of thresholds, beginning with a large, concave concrete gateway that doubles as a seating area.

This leads through to a series of small gardens that buffer the tranquil gallery spaces from the street.

“The entire project’s significance emerges precisely in the area of the threshold, making the entrance a dual function of an urban system and a work of art,” described the studio.

“It is intended to be crossed in order to enter the first ‘secret’ garden and a completely different realm by leaving behind the chaos caused by the immediate urban environment: an essential, oneiric peace that has been sought for just one purpose, to house art,” it continued.

It is housed in an old warehouse that forms a tactile backdrop

Moving through the garden, visitors encounter a 20th-century concrete addition to the print house, which now serves as a guesthouse for artists in residence. Its interiors are finished in matte-black paint and wooden panelling.

Past this building are the exhibition spaces inside the original warehouse structure, which open up onto a garden towards the back of the site that is enclosed by a U-shaped extension in glass and steel.

“The place unveils itself gradually, following a closed sequence of crossings, one threshold at a time,” said the studio. “A glass and steel cage expands the area and reveals the internal court, almost as if it were a treasure.”

Both the main gate and the warehouse building have been finished with sliding metal doors, with the entrance to the gallery sheltered beneath a concrete metal canopy.

An external concrete staircase leads to the site’s upper level. Here, AMAA has positioned a raised garden beside an artist’s studio.

Internally, all of the existing surfaces have been left in their rough, textured state, creating a contrast with the modern additions and celebrating the various alterations that have taken place over time.

Threshold and Treasure is not the first adaptive reuse project by AMAA. In 2020, it created its own studio by inserting a glass box into another factory building in Arzignano.

JMGO N1 Ultra: An affordable 4K UHD projector with a built-in 360° gimbal that lets you watch movies anywhere

With its $1499 price tag, the JMGO N1 Ultra even ‘outshines’ last year’s Philips Screeneo U5 as a budget-friendly 4K home projector. It shines with a brightness of 4000 lumens, has a 1600:1 contrast ratio, and uses JMGO’s MALC Triple Color Laser Optics system to deliver rich, detailed, noise-free visuals (up to a screen size of 150 inches) that are only enhanced by the projector’s Dolby Audio certified speaker system, co-created with Dynaudio. Moreover, it comes with a built-in gimbal that lets you point the projector’s lens anywhere, so you can watch movies on the wall or even on the ceiling for dramatic effect!

JMGO N1 Ultra Affordable 4K Projector

The JMGO N1 Ultra packs quite a few punches in a design that looks just about as premium as its competitors, with a price tag that puts them to shame. The projector sports a monolithic design with a dual-tone finish that looks nothing like those ugly white bricks you’d see in conference rooms of offices. The N1 Ultra comes with a design worth showing off, and it’s even designed to be portable so you can travel with it, whether it’s outdoors on a camping trip, or to a friend’s house to watch a game on that massive blank wall in front of their backyard. The projector comes with two pivot points, giving it 2-axis control so you can point it anywhere. You’ve got 135° of vertical adjustment, and 360° of horizontal adjustment, and although it isn’t mechanically controlled, you can simply place your hand on the projector and turn it to face wherever you want.

JMGO N1 Ultra Affordable 4K Projector

The gimbal system lets you face the projector in a multitude of directions.

JMGO N1 Ultra Affordable 4K Projector

On the inside, the JMGO N1 Ultra surprises with its quality, brought out by the MALC Triple Color Laser Optics system, which uses a series of stacked RGB lasers to create a fuller image that has immense detail with no noise (as can sometimes be found in cheaper laser projectors) even up to screen sizes as big as 150 inches. That, along with the 4K UHD quality, 4000 ANSI Lumens brightness, and 1600:1 contrast ratio give the N1 Ultra its stunning visual clarity, allowing it to represent over a billion colors with sheer accuracy. The high brightness and contrast ratio also makes the N1 Ultra a great projector for moderately lit environments, allowing you to use it even during the day with the blinds drawn or windows shut, or at night with a light or two left on. You’ve also got automatic keystone correction, adaptive brightness adjustment, and auto-focus to make movie time less of fiddling with settings, and more of just enjoying the show.

JMGO N1 Ultra Affordable 4K Projector

To complement the high-quality visuals, the folks at JMGO partnered with Dynaudio to create a punchy sound system. Designed to deliver cinematic-quality audio, the N1 Ultra packs two powerful 10W speakers with a bass response as low as 45Hz for the thumping audio that turns your living room into a theater. The sound system even comes certified by Dolby Audio and DTS-HD, making it perfect for pairing with media over streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Apple TV+, and Amazon Prime.

The N1 Ultra comes with Android 11 built right into it but also supports connecting to external devices or casting from your phone. WiFi 6 allows for lag-free casting from your smartphone or tablet (and also delivers great-quality streaming over your home WiFi), while HDMI 2.1 makes the JMGO N1 Ultra an ideal projector for using alongside devices like streaming boxes and even gaming consoles, for low-latency (15ms) gaming. It’s also got a DC port on the back for powering the N1 Ultra, a USB-A port for plugging in hard disks and thumb drives, and a 3.5mm audio input if you’ve got a more comprehensive audio system for your movie nights.

JMGO N1 Ultra Affordable 4K Projector

Although the N1 Ultra sits rather perfectly on any tabletop surface, it does come with floor and ceiling-mounting options to fit a user’s space perfectly. That being said, it’s best used without any of the mounts, giving it its signature compact form factor that makes the N1 Ultra perfect for travel too. Each JMGO N1 Ultra comes with an EPP (Expanded PolyPropylene) case equipped with handles for carrying your projector around in, along with a power cable and adapter, as well as a handheld remote to control your projector. Although with an original price tag of $2299, the JMGO N1 Ultra can be snagged at a discounted $1499 on Kickstarter, with a 1-year warranty and delivery starting May 2023.

Pedal-powered bicycle with clever in-frame storage to keep camping essentials safe

Electric bikes have a lot of undeniable pros – highlighting ones being – the green aspect and modern design to appeal to young buyers. Already, E-bike concepts for adventure seekers who want to go beyond the city limits add a layer of high-quality suspension system and robust body to the mix to lure riders who desire to explore the dirt trails.

While off-roading four-wheelers come with the advantage of hauling cargo as well, an e-bike simply doesn’t have enough room to carry around your essential camping gear. With this clever electric bike that notion could take a back seat.

Designer: Luca Matturro, Michele D’Angelo, Ruggero Vizzini, Francesco Piccinelli, Filippo Coacci

The electric bike dubbed IEDEX is an exploration bicycle at heart with enough space to store the camping essentials without creating any visual disparity. The versatile team of designers has managed to design the e-bike with ad-hoc space to store two luggage bags in the frame itself. Unlike other bicycle frame designs adopting a triangular or connected shape for structural integrity, this one skips the down tube courtesy of the unibody design.

The smaller and the larger storage units are fastened using Fidlock fasteners that magnetically keep things in place and are easy to remove as well. Each one of these Fidlock Snap M fasteners can hold a weight of up to 15 kg. The bigger one dubbed Camping Equipment Bag slides out easily from one side with a handle. According to the design team, the smaller Personal Items Bag mounts using two fasteners, sliding from the top of the bike frame by swiveling the saddle to one side. With the Fidlock Snap female points, this bag turns into a shoulder bag with a shoulder strap.

Ride comfort on gravel tracks is important, hence the bike gets Hiride 40mm travel suspension on the steerer tube. The front suspension is paired to the seat tube with a play of 20mm so that even newbies get accustomed to the bike’s rideability. The frame is a combination of a straight tube and step-through shape with the MTB characteristics – a balanced suspension and low fork trail. One USP of the IEDEX that designers are emphasizing a lot is Heinzmann’s Ride by Wire System which is a combination of motor and transmission, getting any chain-falling events out of the equation.

Top 10 Smart Home Accessories that free up time and enhance your everyday life

Our homes are getting more sophisticated in terms of technology, but all of that is for naught if it ends up making our lives more complicated as well. Smart home devices are meant to help take some loads off our minds and free up small bits of time here and there. Those few minutes might seem almost inconsequential on their own, but when taken together, they give us more freedom to schedule our days around the more important things in life, like spending time with family, friends, and pets. Of course, there’s a wide variety of such devices and appliances available these days, almost too many for us to keep up with. To help with the overwhelming task of selecting the right products, we’ve compiled a list of ten of the best-designed smart home accessories that can help you live life more productively and more enjoyably.

1. Philips Screeneo U5

Living smarter doesn’t just mean being smart about productivity. It also means being smart about the way we relax and enjoy life, particularly through entertainment. TVs have gotten smarter these days, but their basic design hasn’t changed much, especially in how they eat up so much space. That is why some homeowners have switched to smart projectors instead, especially ultra short throw projectors like the new Philips Screeneo U5 that removes the stress of setting up a high-quality entertainment system that doesn’t take up space when not in use.

All you really need to do is to put the Screeneo U5 11 to 16 inches from a wall and then let the smart projector do its magic. It can automatically set up the right configuration so you can jump right into enjoying a good flick with its brighter and more vibrant 4K UHD projection. It doesn’t slack off when it comes to audio either, so you can immerse yourself in the content you love, pushing away the worries of life even for just a few hours.

2. Apple HomePod 2

If you’re going to have more than just one smart home device in your home, you’d probably want to have a single, convenient place to control them from. While there might be a few smart home platforms in existence, most devices support Apple Home, which means that the 2nd-gen Apple HomePod is one of the best smart home hubs available today. What makes it even better is that it is future-proof and compatible with an even wider range of smart devices, thanks to its support for the budding Matter smart home standard.

Admittedly, the 2nd-gen HomePod looks a lot like the first-ever HomePod, but that’s also because it’s a well-loved design that’s known to work. Looks can be deceiving, of course, because everything inside has been upgraded. That means that not only is the HomePod 2 a great smart home hub, it’s also a great speaker that now supports Spatial Audio for that 5.1-channel home theater effect with a single speaker.

3. Bird Buddy

Bird watching is an underrated and unappreciated hobby, mostly because of how time-consuming it is to wait for the right bird to come at the right time. It would probably be more efficient if you just let the bird come to you and just be notified when that happens, rather than going out of your way to search for these feathered visitors. That’s pretty much the idea behind Bird Buddy, a smart bird feeder that also turns you into a smarter bird watcher.

Bird Buddy entices your flying neighbors with snacks that they can enjoy in peace, so it’s a win-win situation for both birds and humans. Once a bird flies into place, it detects its presence and sends you a notification on your phone, where you can view a live feed of the bird without disrupting its natural behavior. Bird Buddy can even use AI to identify the type of bird so that you can record different kinds, almost like Pokemon. And you don’t have to waste time at home waiting for those notifications since you can carry the Bird Buddy mobile app with you anywhere you go.

4. Flic 2 Smart Button

While controlling smart devices from a mobile app can be convenient and flexible, it isn’t always the smartest nor the fastest way to do things if it involves multiple taps or actions. There’s always this dream of pushing a single button that does everything you need at a given moment without trying so hard. That’s the dream that the Flic 2 makes real with a single button that can do almost anything you can imagine, as long as there’s a service that supports it.

Flic 2 connects to over a dozen smart services, including Amazon Alexa, Apple Home, IFTTT, and more, so that you can map a single push of a button to a single action or a routine that triggers a series of actions. Those can include dimming the lights, starting the coffee machine, sending a message, or ordering supplies. Since it connects to your smartphone, you can even clip it on your clothes or bag and take it with you wherever you go, expanding your smart home into your smart world.

5. SwitchBot Curtain Rod 2

Smart devices often try to be a jack of all trades to cater to different people and different use cases. You might, however, sometimes want something that does one thing but does it so well that you might even forget that it’s there. That’s the kind of experience that the SwitchBot Curtain Rod 2 brings to the table, turning any old curtain into a smart one in a way that almost makes you think you bought a real smart curtain from the very beginning.

Like any of SwitchBot’s smart products, the Curtain Rod 2 is actually a small robot that attaches to and moves along any conventional curtain rod, which means it can drag the curtain along with it. The robot can be controlled by almost any means, from app to voice command to scheduled times. You can even give it a physical nudge by moving the curtain by hand, and it will move along in that direction, giving you the satisfaction of manually opening or closing curtains but with less work.

6. Tempest Personal Weather System

Many of us might have become accustomed to checking the weather every morning, especially those of us that need to commute almost every day. It’s not an exact science, though, and the results that you get might be completely different, especially if you live quite a distance from the nearest weather station. Fortunately, it’s now possible to have your own personal weather station at home with more accurate and more meaningful information thanks to the Tempest personal weather system.

Unlike most smart home devices, Tempest stands outside to get accurate and real-time weather data as it happens within your vicinity rather than having to rely on a weather station miles and miles away. It can, of course, also tell other smart home devices what to do under certain conditions, so the smart sprinklers won’t turn on when it’s raining, or the smart garage door will close down when it’s too windy. The device is also solar-powered, so you won’t have to worry about your electricity bill spiking up either.

7. Ecobee Smart Thermostat

Knowing the weather or environment at home is great but means nothing if you can’t be smart about changing that situation for the better. Knowing the right time and amount to heat or cool the house inside is just as important, especially since it saves up money in the long run. You’d need a smart thermostat for that, and Ecobee is not only one of the most established brands in that market, it also has one of the most aesthetic products as well.

The Ecobee Smart Thermostat has all the bells and whistles you’d expect and then some. It can, for example, also monitor air quality so that you can take steps to make sure you’re breathing in clean air. What makes this Ecobee product even more appealing is its handsome looks that easily reminds you of an Apple product, like a large Apple Watch mounted on a wall. It can even show something similar to Siri’s animation when controlling it by voice, giving you an interesting visual while interacting with the device.

8. SwitchBot Lock

When upgrading your home to be smarter, you often find yourself having to buy new products and replace old ones. That might be fine for smart lighting or even thermostats, but some parts of your house might not be so easy to change. Door locks are one such category of home fixtures that would require a lot of effort and money to upgrade to a smart lock. Fortunately, SwitchBot’s Lock device makes it possible to have a smarter door lock using the very same lock you already have on your door.

Just like most of SwitchBot’s products, the Lock simply installs on your door and attaches to your existing door lock, making a regular mechanism smarter in a snap. You can control the lock remotely through a variety of channels, from voice control to Bluetooth to NFC tags to, of course, physical keys. Not only do you save time opening the door exactly when you need to, you also save both time and money when installing this smart door lock without having to change anything on your door.

9. Click and Grow

We probably pay way too much attention to the technological aspects of a smart home, but living smarter doesn’t always involve self-dimming lights, robot vacuum cleaners, and watchful security cameras. It also means living a healthy lifestyle, which is also one area where smart home devices can help with. Eating healthy food, especially vegetables, can sometimes be a chore when you consider all the work and money spent keeping your stocks filled. Fortunately, you can also grow your own green leafy treats, and the Click and Grow offers a smart way to do so.

Growing plants indoors has become quite fashionable these days, but Click and Grow smart planter hits multiple birds with one stone. Its patented tray system ensures you have a continuous harvest of greens every week, but its clean, minimalist design also adds to your home’s ambiance in the process. It’s a smart and beautiful way to give your smart home a splash of green while also ensuring you won’t run out of fresh veggies anytime soon.

10. NordicTrack Vault Home Gym

Everyone wants to stay healthy and in good shape, but those people can also think of dozens of excuses not to hit the gym. Admittedly, that’s not a viable option for everyone, but breaking a sweat by yourself at home doesn’t always feel as effective, especially when you don’t really know what you should be doing. If you need guidance beyond just home fitness machines, you might want to also have the wisdom of experts at your service. The Vault brings all of these together into your home, delivering a personal fitness system that fits inside a mirror.

It’s almost too easy to dismiss The Vault as a regular fitness mirror because that is exactly half of what it offers. You have immediate visual feedback that compares your form with that of an expert, and it also gives you access to world-class trainers demonstrating different training styles. The Vault, however, is also a literal vault that contains the accessories you need for a complete workout, including dumbbells, kettlebells, resistance bands, and more. It’s a true home gym system that happens to look nothing like a home gym, bringing a touch of elegance to the room when you’re not doing exercises.

Cooperatives Are Helping Preserve Traditional Mezcal Production

Within the rising mezcal market, producers of the spirit are struggling to meet the booming demand while maintaining traditional methods that prioritize sustainability, small batches, rotational agave-growing and selective harvesting. With the increase of industrialized methods, many makers have sacrificed sustainability to keep up, leading to deforested hillsides and disappearing rare agave species. In an effort to help mezcaleros (producers of mezcal) stay in business, preserve the traditional techniques and protect the land, many are forming member-led cooperatives. Erika Meneses—the director of the Guerrero-based brand and cooperative, Aguerrido—teamed up with local makers to sell their spirits together. Members of the co-op adhere to an established farming and harvesting regulation that prioritizes ancestral methods, making them more financially resilient and increasing product diversity as each bottle uniquely captures the area’s ecosystem. Many more producers have united, as Meneses describes, to “protect our mezcal precisely from people who only seek a particular benefit for themselves.” Learn more at Civil Eats.

This transparent old-school cassette player combo can also serve as Bluetooth speaker

If you grew up or were alive during the time when cassette tapes and players were the in thing, then you probably at one point or another long for those days. You want to have them back not just for nostalgia’s sake but because the quality was pretty good since the audio is not that compressed yet. There are some product designers that have brought concepts to bring a version of cassettes back, but most of them are just for decoration. But now it looks like you can get something that’s close to it and maybe even better.

Designer: NINM Lab

The device is called It’s Real because people might think the cassette tape and player look is just for aesthetics. But in fact, it’s an actual cassette player that also serves as a Bluetooth speaker. Well of course the design also brings a nostalgic and analog feel to your space but it’s also pretty functional. It serves several purposes like a Bluetooth Speaker to stream your music through its cassette tape, a music transmitter tape that can stream your music through any boombox or cassette player, and an actual cassette player with a built-in speaker.

If you still have any traditional cassette tapes, you will be able to play it on the It’s Real player which already has a built-in speaker. The design also lets you see the tape rotating in all its working details glory since it has a transparent top cover. You’ll be able to see the tape itself rolling along and then the clockwork and motor work doing its thing at the back. It also comes with a REAL TAPE bluetooth 5.0 music transmitter tape which you can use to stream your music to other boomboxes or any device that has a cassette player.

But if you don’t have cassette tapes or any cassette tape player, you can just use the IT’S REAL device as a regular Bluetooth speaker. You just connect your mobile device with the music or audio apps that you use to the REAL TAPE Bluetooth cassette tape and then stream your digital music and files there. It of course cannot guarantee the same quality as the analog devices of old, but at least you have an aesthetic speaker to add to your space.

CASETiFY brings Crocs-like pin charms to add some fun to your phone covers

Because smartphones are almost an extension of our body in that we carry them almost everywhere we go, a lot of people also use them to express their personalities. There are a lot of cases and accessories that you can use now to shout out your fandom or your favorite things but you probably have to constantly change it if you want to show off different aspects of your personality or if you just want different things every few weeks. If you’re a fan of Crocs’ Jibbitz charms accessories, you’ll love these new cases from CASETiFY.

Designer: CASETiFY

The Push-In Cases from CASETiFY use soft-touch silicone that is able to protect your smartphone from falls, shocks, vibrations, etc. It has a MIL-STD-810G certification which is actually a military-grade standard for products that can protect your item from various environmental pressures. It also has raised bezels to protect your screen. So if you’re looking for something that has a comfortable grip, is lightweight but can still be sturdy enough to protect your phone, this is a good option. But obviously, that will not be the main reason for you to choose this case.

The case has around 13-14 dotted pits where you can plug in various charms that match your personality or your mood for that week. You have some cutesy charms like smileys, bears, rainbows, and flowers as well as more specific things like butter on toast, cowboy boots, checkered hearts, yin-yang with hearts, sunny side up eggs, etc. These charms or pins were created by the various “artists, designers, and visionaries” that they partnered with.

You get four basic colors for the Push-In Cases: black, pink, lavender, and cream. Of course, you get simple colors since the pins will be the ones to bring fun and color to your case. There’s also a limited-edition Barbie version that is black but has pre-fitted pink pins, just in time for Barbie-mania to hit us once again with the upcoming movie. For now, it’s only available for iPhones but hopefully, other brands will also be able to join the fun soon.

Adorable Pet-Feeder Designed Like a Sushi-Tray Has Your Furry Friend Working for Their Treats

Pets are the new kids on the block, and millennials are leading the charge in treating their four-legged companions like the true family members they are. This shift in pet-pampering has given rise to a booming industry, with innovative products designed to cater to our fur babies’ every whim. Among these clever creations, pet feeders have emerged as a standout – not only satisfying our pets’ appetites (and preventing fast-eating and overeating) but also providing mental and physical stimulation by making them work for their treats through engaging play.

This series of Pet Feeders from OurPets has a wonderfully tongue-in-cheek way of bridging the visual gap between pet treats and what humans consider treats. The feeders come in two styles – a sushi tray and a plate of waffles (with maple syrup and butter on top), with sliding and rotating compartments to hide pet treats in. Getting to these hidden treats requires a fair bit of problem-solving, including figuring out how components move to reveal the food hidden inside. This gives pets their mental stimulation, making them work for their food as their wild counterparts would have by scouting, strategizing, and hunting.

The Sushi Feeder Tray comes with rows of California Rolls that slide from side to side, with compartments underneath it for storing treats. Almost perfect for cats, given their penchant for fish, this toy has them dining with etiquette, as they paw the expertly crafted Sushi Rolls from side to side, eating individual portions of treats from the containers underneath. If there ever was a perfectly bougie pet feeder, this would be it!

The Waffle Pet Feeder definitely has a dog energy to it. Built around America’s favorite breakfast treat, the golden-colored pet feeder comes with indentations to hide food in, and a rotating blob of maple syrup and butter that the pet needs to move with their paw or snout to access the treats. Like the Sushi Tray, the Waffle Stack is made from durable, rugged plastics that are designed to withstand the wear and tear of even the most enthusiastic of pets. “We recommend trying healthy pet-approved treats that your dog can smell such as cheese, pumpkin puree, soft training treats, or peanut butter,” say the makers at OurPets.

The development of the toy had its own interesting process too, as designers Claudia and Caitlin worked with their design director Ryan Rutherford to come up with different mechanical interactions and pair them with food items to create hilariously adorable human-food-inspired pet feeders. Claudia and Caitlin also worked with object-based feeders, but the food-inspired route seemed like the best fit.
