Competition: Dezeen has teamed up with publisher Owl & Dog Playbooks to give away five copies of a children‘s book filled with pre-scored sheets for making folded paper models of fish (+ slideshow).
Founded by designers Yeonju Yang and Claudio Ripol, London-based Owl & Dog Playbooks creates books that aim to encourage children to play.
The Fish book features eight brightly coloured shapes that can be punched out and folded into three-dimensional forms. On the reverse side, a poem describes the creature.
“We are interested in new, unusual formats, halfway between books and toys, and exploring the theatrical role-playing involved in reading a book to a young child,” said Owl & Dog Playbooks.
“Our books are designed to be read and used creatively; our mission is to celebrate the fun ritual of book-reading, and to promote magical moments of discovery,” it continued.
The shapes are set into pages covered with patterns, forming a camouflage. They only reveal themselves when removed for assembly.
