DIY Golden feathers

Bloesem Living | DIY Golden Feathers

Hello Bloesem readers, this is Nancy from Nicenancy and I am excited to share a little craft tutorial with you today.

I’ve got a thing for feathers at the moment. They are so tactile and beautiful I could look at them forever. And once you start painting them gold, you’ll want them even more. I used mine to decorate a package, but they are best friends with interior decorators as well. Put them under a glass and let the pretty things shine!

What you’ll need
*Textile painting (I used Royal Talens Decorfin gold, nr 801)
*Water color for any other color
*A small brush
*A match (if you want stamp dots)

Well, this is probably the easiest DIY you’ve ever seen. Just grab those lovely feathers and start exploring your favorite patterns. I like dots and graphic lines. My 6 year old daughter Josi painted just the upper part blue (like a dip-dye) and I loved it. Just follow your heart and it will turn out beautiful!

Guest Post: The Home Behind by Nord

Jennifer a merry mishap

I love seeing the homes of artist and
designers, there is something so intriguing about seeing the space created by someone who works with visuals
every day. This home is no exception and belongs to Hanne Berzant who mixes natural comforts with luxurious
accents and truly exemplifies Nordic style.

Hope you enjoy! ~Jennifer Hagler

Guest Post: Blues + Greens

1

Hi everyone and greetings from Canada!  It's Jan from Poppytalk and I too, am so saddened by Irene's loss and of course was more than happy to do a post here while she is away. Big hugs Irene!

When wondering what I could write about for one of my favorite blogs, Bloesem, I ran into a splash of beautiful blues and greens via Marcus Hay's Blue/Green board over on Pinterest and was immediately drawn in.  I think what I am most inspired by is the hue (especially the chalkboard paint version) on the wall.  The effect for a wall mixed with blue fabrics and accessories really makes for an inviting space don't you think? It also works on furniture (like that chair in the photo above).

Here are a few green and blue images for inspiration, would you paint a wall a dark green like this? I just might. ~Jan

Guest Post: A little bit of Sunshine

Bloesem1

This is Danielle  from The Style Files and I am guest blogging on Bloesem while Irene is going through a very sad time. Writing about interior related things might seem unimportant at times like this. But I know that Irene, like me, wants to spread beauty and positivity into the world with her blog. Which is why I have chosen to show you interiors with a splash of yellow, which is a happy and positive color. Life can be difficult and with this post I aim to bring a glimpse of sunshine to you all but especially to those who, like Irene, are going through tough times. Irene, I wish you and your family lots of strength dealing with this terrible loss. ~ Danielle

Guest Post: Fiddle Leaf Fig

FF5

Hello Bloesem readers, I'm Victoria from sfgirlbybay. I wish I were here under happier circumstances and my thoughts go out to Irene and her family in this most difficult of times. But I'm honored to be here filling in for Irene today, and I thought I'd offer up a guest post about life and beautiful living things, particularly the Fiddle Leaf Fig. I'm somewhat obsessed with these trending trees right now, and I really am not sure exactly why. They've just captured by heart, and I love the way they grow strong and yet quite flexible — the Fiddle Leaf Fig grows into its environment, shaping its branches around the curve of a room. I like that idea. Here's a few of my favorite views, from small and eager to grow, to voluminous trees living happily indoors.

some ‘house essentials’ from Tiffany…

B01

Irene asked me to do a post about some of the things I liked this week, and I have to admit I felt really nervous about it. I don't want to disappoint. As you know I just bought my first house, so I have so many things I like running through my head, that it keeps me up at night. Let's see how I do…

Something for the outdoors…a practical guide to the essentials of beekeeping.

Bell

Something romantic for my bedroom…a ceramic victorian bell.

Cords

Something necessary turned lovely…a beautiful cloth extension cord.

Thanks Irene, this was fun!

A little write up today by one of Bloesem's readers… Melissa from reverie-daydream

'Natural light, monochromatic earth tones, and organic elements all combine to form my ideal dream living space. To allow the mind to be inspired, serenity usually plays a key role. This home, photgraphed by James Merrell, offers simplistic design as an open canvas for the creative juices to flow as well as the perfect backdrop to showcase all your beloved treasures gathered along life’s way.'

* Guest post : Watercolor flower bows by Victoria Hudgins

Liven up your spring gifts with an artistic touch, watercolor bows and string will make even the simplest of presents seem well designed.

Materials: Simple white or plain colored store bought wrapping bows, scissors, watercolor paints and a brush……. >> read more

Watercolor-10

To make the flowers:

*Taking your water colors, randomly begin swiping different colors over the tops of each bow. Use a quick wrist flick to get the intended effect and change up colors as you go. Add more or less water to vary the depth of your painting.

*Let the paint dry for 1 hour.

*Taking your first store bought bow snip off the top of each center loop, this will leave you with an open bow and colored tips on every side.

*Combine 2 or three of these bows together by sticking them one inside the other and you will have a full and colorfully tipped flower.

*Hang in succession on a wall for quick spring celebration decor, or pile on packages for artistic gift wrapping.
