Bentley's first Hybrid

The 2019 Bentley Bentayga plug-in hybrid made its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, showing off a smaller engine to fit the plug-in battery pack underneath its luxurious shell. The model, which is capable of up to 50km of electric-only range, uses an electric motor with a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine – the same set-up used in the Porsche Panamera E-Hybrid. The motor acts as both, an electric motor and a generator. Performance figures have not yet been revealed but a total output of 456hp is expected. With an at-home charger, a full charge should arrive in 2.5 hours, whereas a standard wall outlet will take 7.5 hours to fully juice up the SUV. A smartphone app lets Bentayga owners check the car’s charge status and search for nearby charging stations either on the route or in the immediate area.
