Attributing the Furniture Designs That Appear as Star Trek Props

What do all of these chairs have in common:

They’re all commercially available, and were all used as props in various Star Trek properties. It makes sense as the production designers have their hands full designing the interiors, and it’s far faster to send staff to scoop up some designey mass-manufactured furniture.

Trek fans Tadeo D’Oria, Eno Farley, Bernd Schneider and Jörg Hillebrand have identified 163 chairs total and attributed them on the Ex Astris Scientia fan site.

Bubble Chair, designed by Christian Daninos for Laroche in 1968. Appears in “Star Trek: Enterprise,” episode “The Aenar.”

hm85 Solo, designed by Simon Pengelly for Hitch Mylius. Appears in “Star Trek Into Darkness.”

President Lounge Chair 265, designed by Steen Ostergaard for Cado in 1968. Appears in “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan.”

Stokke Globe Garden, designed by Peter Opsvik. Appears in multiple episodes of “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
