Some Type of Wonderful

Following exhibitions in Melbourne and Sydney, the series of prints created for this year’s Some Type of Wonderful are now available to buy online…

Some Type of Wonderful is an annual type design project from Lifelounge which invites 12 artists/designers/typographers to each respond to a design brief relating to a month of the year. The resulting designs were then turned into a set of limited edition glycee prints that have already been exhibited in Melbourne and Sydney. The prints are now available to buy online at lifelounge.com and have also been turned into a limited edition 2010 calendar. Each print comes in an edition of 36 and are available for the highly reasonable price of AUS $250. The calendars are AUS $40. Get them while you can.

Isaac Mizrahi and Betsey Johnson Among Designers Contributing to Pet Collar Auction, Hosting Selection Leaves Us Confused

1030aucriv.jpg

To end this writer’s day on a fun/funny note, we ran across this press release from the North Shore Animal League America, who are gearing up for an upcoming benefit in New York next Thursday the 5th to raise money for their pet rescue/adoption/awareness efforts. The event is called the Fourth Annual DogCatemy Celebrity Gala and will feature an auction of pet collars created by famous designers, from Isaac Mizrahi to Betsey Johnson. Since we’re animal lovers (proof of that here), we were happy about the whole thing while skimming the release, until we ran across this bit about the event itself:

Hosted by award-winning journalist, author and host of Fox News Channel’s Geraldo at Large, Geraldo Rivera

Geraldo? Really? That’s who they got to host the event? Wasn’t there someone else around New York somewhere who might be a better fit? The gala’s website says Rivera got his golden retriever from their shelter, which is great, and he’s certainly a personable guy, but don’t 90% of Americans also find him pretty off-putting? And let’s remember that John O’Hurley lives just up the coast, in Maine. He’s the best part of the annual dog show at Thanksgiving. He wasn’t free? Anyway, while we continue to struggle with our curiosity, here’s a bit about all the designers involved with the auction:

…the gala features a truly unique auction. It showcases an array of one-of-a-kind pet collars created by some of the most illustrious names in the design, fashion and jewelry worlds. Bidders have the opportunity to dress their animals in collars created by designers including Betsey Johnson, Nicole Miller, Isaac Mizrahi, Byron Lars, Stephen Dweck, Lela Rose, Alexis Bittar, Carmen Marc Valvo, Yigal Azrouel, Anna Sui, Christie Brinkley, Marc Bouwer, Lela Rose, Colette Malouf and many more.

Brighten Up Your Fall Beauty Routine With Yellow Eyeshadow

imageBright primary colors and neon shades are perfect for waking up a winter wardrobe, and this trend is making its way into the beauty department as well. Pastel yellow is too weak to stand up to the bold clothing shapes that we’re seeing right now– these yellows are anything but mellow; they’re bright, bright, bright. And while they may seem hard to wear, in actuality yellows and golds accent blue and green eyes and bring out the gold flecks in brown eyes. Sweep some over the entire lid for a look that’s shiny and bright. Or, take a cue from the Marc Jacobs runways and pair with some smoky black liner for a high contrast look. You can even sweep it on the brow bone and out to the temple. Check out the slideshow for some products to get the look.

Scary Ketchup and more talking food idents for FSA

Mark Denton of COY! has shot a series of fun new idents for the Food Standards Agency (FSA) that sees various foods conversing with one another to comic effect…

Written by ad agency RKCR, each of the eight FSA idents are split in half, with the first half of each appearing at the beginning of an ad break in the Good Food Channel’s Family Supercooks program – and the second half denoting the end of the adbreak. Here are our favourite two from the series – although it’s the Ketchup / Fishfinger one that provoked the most glee here at CR towers…
